Hear’Say! miming interviews

Manufactured pop group Hear’Say are miming to pre-recorded answers during interviews, Untitled Document can reveal.

Although the five winners of the ITV audition/gameshow hybrid are able to sing live, record company executives are said to be unhappy with their interview technique, and have requested that they merely open and close their mouths in response to questions, while a tape recording of actors providing pre-arranged answers is played.

Cinema-goer helps others follow plot

The woman sitting in seat L2 of the local Odeon cinema on Saturday was a big help to those near her who were having difficulty following the plot, or fully appreciating the film, other patrons reported.

During the one hour forty minute film What Women Want, starring Mel Gibson as an advertising executive who gains the ability to read women’s minds, the woman gave a constant commentary on the on-screen action, and pointed out things that others may well have missed.

Quake bot’s diary reveals yearning for peace

The common image of the bots in the massive multiplayer hit Quake 3: Arena is that of bloodthirsty, single-minded automatons hell-bent on destroying anything and everything that stands in their path. And yet the recent discovery by a player from Southend-on-Sea of a diary kept by one such bot, known as Sarge, may cast new light on these misunderstood individuals…

Tim Westwood presents funked-up Shipping Forecast

As part of the UK Meteorological Office’s ongoing rebranding exercise, which aims to give weather forecasting and statistics a bright new image, Radio One rap DJ Tim Westwood lent his inimitable style to The Shipping Forecast yesterday.

The Shipping Forecast, familiar to almost everyone living in Britain, has until now been a dry list of wind directions and speeds, recited in a flat monotone. Met Office officials blame this for the show’s poor ratings and negative customer feedback.

Revolution will be pay-per-view

A consortium of television providers including British Sky Broadcasting, ONDigital and NTL have announced that the revolution, when it comes, will be available to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis.

The statement ends years of speculation regarding not only how, but whether, the revolution will, in fact, be televised.

BBC Sound Effects #4 becomes best-selling album of all time

The BBC’s hit record, Sound Effects #4, passed the 27th multi-platinum landmark at 15:22 GMT on Saturday, following the purchase of a copy in the Princes Street, Edinburgh, branch of HMV by Raymond Fitzsimmons.

The sale means the LP has supplanted The Eagles: Their Greatest Hits as the biggest selling album of all time, ahead of other strong competition such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Led Zeppelin’s IV.

Advert tells man way more than he needed to know about women’s problems

A thirty second commercial broadcast during last week’s repeat episode of Friends on Sky One told Dover man Patrick Keenan more than he ever wanted to know about the particular problems faced by women.

The ad, for a new feminine hygiene product, dealt frankly with the problem, the nature of which is familiar to those of the female persuasion everywhere. But for Keenan, who was eating at the time, the information contained therein was a shocking revelation that has left him feeling confused and frightened.
